Summer Fling by Grace Donaldson
A farmer. A Taco Bell employee. A makeup artist. A landlord/influencer. It can only be this season’s cast of Summer Fling, Channel 6’s hottest dating show! Get ready for a summer of sand, short shorts and semen, as young people with concerningly low IQs and concerningly high body counts make fools of themselves for your viewing pleasure. A satirical comedy, Summer Fling explores the humorous, absurd and somewhat exploitative aspects of dating shows and the society we exist in.
Written and directed by Grace Donaldson and assistant directed by Emma Comfort, the play was first performed at a new writing festival at the University of Glasgow in February 2025. Dating back to at least 1922, Student Theatre at Glasgow is the oldest and largest student theatre society in Scotland. STAG broke out of Glasgow in 1957 with their first performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Their most recent show, last year’s five-star reviewed ‘Lads of the Flies’, also written by Grace Donaldson, was nominated for two Scottish Theatre Awards: The Leading Light Prize and the Bright Sparks Award.

The M Word by Grace Donaldson
Maggie and Moya - two ordinary girls attending an ordinary Scottish high school in an ordinary town. But they know something no-one else does - they’re going to take the world by storm! Now that they’ve started their band, nothing is going to get in their way. Hopefully. Maybe. As the end of school draws closer, and reality starts to creep in, the two friends begin to realise that not everything can stay the same. A play exploring coming of age, internalised misogyny, and Scotland’s creative scene.

Hedda Gabler by Sofia Macchi Watts, After Ibsen
Hedda Gabler knows exactly who she is. And she has everything she has ever wanted. And it is not enough.
When Hedda and Alex return from their honeymoon, news of their wedding spreads. Ghosts from their past begin to haunt their seemingly perfect marriage, and old wounds are reopened. Set over a tense twenty-four hour period, this contemporary adaptation of Ibsen’s classic explores the role of missed opportunity in the making and meaning of a life, and considers the consequences of a twenty-first century woman’s to desire to be more.

The Zoo Story by Edward Albee
Peter’s a nice guy. He’s quiet, polite and affable. Inoffensive. On Sundays, he takes a walk through the park. He visits his favourite bench. He sits, he reads, he smokes his pipe. For one small moment each week, he is content. Today, however, he is disturbed by a stranger named Jerry.
Their coming together is, to Jerry's mind, an opportunity. A singular chance at something intimate, powerful and entirely irreversible.
Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story is a potent analysis of American capitalism and urban loneliness. It remains as blisteringly relevant today as it was when first published.

Checkmate by Sophie Gattis, George Rogers and Nathan Harris
AWARDED BEST POSTER DESIGN by Student Theatre at Glasgow
It’s 2007. The whole term has been building to this moment; the end of year chess tournament, as hosted by the ever-glamorous, somewhat-going-through-it PE teacher extraordinaire, Coach Penk. Year on year, the competition is won by school bully, Hector Von Braun. But this year, 13-year-old newcomer, Benny, has to overcome great odds to show that, at the end of the day, all you need to be a real winner is friendship. And maybe Pokémon.
‘Checkmate’ is a fun, light-hearted play which explores ideas of companionship, isolation, and the external pressures faced by young people. It’s the most dynamic game of chess you’ll ever see.
More media to come...

Lads of the Flies by Grace Donaldson
Selected by a panel of judges at the University of Glasgow to attend the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The production completed its run with multiple five-star reviews, sold-out shows, and a shortlisting for two Scottish Theatre Awards.
When a group of four teenage boys (all played by female-presenting actors) get lost in the wilderness on their Duke of Edinburgh trip, they feud, flirt and fornicate in a way that forces us (and them) to ask – is there any hope for the modern man?
Created by a team of solely student theatre-makers, Lads of the Flies is a bitingly funny satire of the performativity of gender and the artifice of patriarchal masculinity. Utilising elements of metatheatre and innovative cross-gender casting, the play comedically re-examines its iconic source material through a radically queer and feminist lens. Throughout the 50-minute runtime, a slew of current pop-cultural references provide razor-sharp insight into the ever-relevant themes of puberty, sexuality and what it means to be a man in the modern world.

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
Fading southern belle Blanche DuBois is adrift in the modern world. When she arrives to stay with her sister Stella in a crowded, boisterous corner of New Orleans, her delusions of grandeur bring her into conflict with Stella's crude, brutish husband Stanley Kowalski. The haunting truths of a troubled past threaten Blanche’s identity, sanity, and last hope for happiness. Tennessee Williams' ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ is the tale of a catastrophic confrontation between fantasy and harsh realities.

Over the summer, a series of advertising and marketing campaigns were developed by Sophie to promote upcoming shows and boost audience engagement at Blumenthal Arts. One standout project involved planning, organizing, and executing a grassroots marketing campaign for Aaron Sorkin’s To Kill a Mockingbird, starring Richard Thomas. By collaborating with local bookstores, Little Free Libraries, and the Blumenthal Marketing Team, the campaign successfully captured the attention of the Charlotte community and encouraged audiences and their families to hunt for books in exchange for free tickets. She also produced and edited a promotional video for the BPA Internship Program.

I See my Sister by Eve Miller
When sisters Mhairi and Caoimhe run away from home, Mhairi is determined to stay isolated from the world. It’s safer for her that way, and if it’s safer for her then it’s safer for them both. But in her struggle to keep her sister close, and other people out, Mhairi makes a deadly choice and risks losing Caoimhe forever. As the sisters become more entangled with the wild Scottish landscape, Mhairi’s secrets are revealed and her grasp on her sister – and reality – begins to slip. I See My Sister explores folklore, trauma and sisterhood.
